TAMES Founder Marv Roelofs to Present Senators Richard Durbin and Tammy Duckworth With Updated Proposal

Investment in Our Children Act of 2017: A Way Forward to Provide All America's Children the Opportunity to Develop and Grow Through Utilization of Early Intervention / Preventive Health Care Services

TAMES has always been at the forefront of efforts to provide federal funding toward necessary care for Illinois school children. Company founder Marv Roelofs played a pivotal role in the legislative process that made Medicaid funds available to support related services for students within special education programs. Now, Marv is presenting an updated proposal to Illinois' United States Senators Richard Durbin and Tammy Duckworth that aims to enroll every child as an EPSDT-Medicaid recipient, eligible to receive early intervention/prevention services, with the federal government funding 80% of allied health care service costs through Medicaid. The services would be applicable to all students in standard or special education. This funding should have a positive impact on the availability of early intervention services and on educational agencies' fiscal resources to meet the developmental needs of their students.

Executive Director of Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), Dr. Luann Purcell, Issues Call to Action on Medicaid and AHCA

Dr. Luann Purcell, executive director of CASE, is urging educators and care providers to oppose changes to Medicaid proposed in the Republican American Health Care Act. The bill would alter the financing structure of Medicaid and make it more difficult for low-income families to receive the care their children need to reduce the barriers to learning. TAMES stands with CASE in encouraging you to take action by contacting your representatives and asking them to vote against any legislation that puts arbitrary caps on the amount of Medicaid funding a child can receive.

The full text of the letter from Dr. Purcell, with additional instructions and advice on how to support the efforts of CASE, can be read here.
